SAFETY

Abra Ca Dabra 1975 Gottlieb single player EM vintge pinball machine centre playfield close up

Pinball must be fun and let’s keep it that way. There are a few important safety issues to bear in mind when attempting to use or open a pinball machine.

They have very high voltage on the inside of the front door! This can be lethal, so it’s always a MUST to turn a game off at the mains when opening it up for an inspection.

  1. Do NOT try to manually activate the coin switch on the front door. Games will be set to free play so you don’t have to touch the coin switches. The start switch works of 240 volts! Fiddle around with the coin mechanism which is directly linked to this and you may be in for a shock. Literally!

  2. Do NOT Experiment with any mechanisms like bumpers, flippers, contacts just for the sake of experimenting. This can lead to the game having problems and could give you an electric shock. Bumpers give a big kick when live and can squash fingers! Remember to take out all balls before opening the game up for service or repair.

  3. Pinballs are heavy! Be careful when moving them around and it’s best to place floor protectors under their feet.

  4. Ensure you take the utmost care when taking the glass off the play field. Always place the glass in a secure safe position possibly on a soft surface.

  5. Do NOT Play a game without the glass on.

  6. Do NOT play a game when there are loud buzzes or weird sounds coming out from the game. There may be some buzzing from the lock or hold relay on older games, this is normal, but excessive buzzing is wrong.

  7. Do NOT use water to clean the playfield

  8. Do NOT use excessively abrasive cleaners on the playfield. Bees wax or soft natural wax is the best thing to use.

  9. Never clean the inside (painted side) of the back glass or plastic with anything other than a dry soft cloth.

  10. Glass cuts. BE VERY CAREFUL when removing the playfield glass. We provide pinballs with toughened glass, if these break they will fracture into thousands of pieces, please take care when removing or moving the glass about.

ALL our games have are earthed and carry a British Three pin plug.  If you require a European plug please let us know and we will add one.
